Biography

Brett is an Executive Director at Azurium Real Estate in Queensland. Prior to joining Azurium Brett held senior roles with the Archdiocese of Brisbane, Brookfield Multiplex and Colliers International. 

Brett’s experience includes reviewing, valuing, managing, leasing and undertaking transactions of property assets across Queensland. His roles have also required him to develop complex strategies to manage clients’ land banks and to assist them to make long term property decisions for their portfolios.

He is a Registered Valuer in Queensland (No. 2129) and a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute with Certified Practising Valuer designation. Brett is also a current Board Member on the Valuers Registration Board of Queensland and a past State President and National Councillor of the Australian Property Institute.

Brett has lectured for many years at both the Queensland University of Technology and Bond University in valuations, property development, real estate agency and property management.

Brett has been involved in a number of transactions and valuation assignments.  Recent assignments include:

  • Valuations for pre-purchase advice for the Archdiocese of Brisbane.
  • Valuations for financial reporting purposes for Ingham’s Chickens.
  • Valuations for rental assessment and financial reporting purposes for affordable rental housing providers, including Brisbane Housing Company and Catalyst Affordable Housing in Gladstone.
  • Valuations as part of acquisition due diligence and board approval for a new office headquarters in Queensland for childcare provider Lady Gowrie.

Brett has been involved in a number of transactions and valuation assignments. Recent retail assignments include:

New store roll out involving:

  • Identification of suitable restaurant sites to lease, including freestanding, in-stores, food courts, kiosk and drive-throughs.
  • Shortlisting of alternatives.
  • Negotiation with landlords.
  • Interaction with various consultants to agree terms and finalise leases.

Early surrender of retail leases, involving:

  • Review of trading performance and options.
  • Assessment of likely early termination costs.
  • Negotiations with landlord.
  • Identification of prospective sub-tenants

Submissions to determining valuer on behalf of a party in market rental dispute matters.

  • Preparing regional retail centres for sale, including:
  • Review of leases, outgoing budgets and rental levels.
  • Making recommendations as to new leases, retention of existing tenants and rental reviews.

Valuations of existing retail centres for financial reporting and due diligence purposes.
